A Poem Can Remind You Why it’s Worth It

I don’t remember which year this was written or how old Mandisa was when she wrote this. I just remember feeling touched, joyful, proud, and thankful.

I am not a buy-a-card guy. Cards are way too expensive and while you may find one that meets your requirements, they still aren’t your words. They’re someone else’s words.

Mandisa, wearing Dad’s glasses, was writing early in her life.

So we’ve always had homemade cards for Christmas; birthdays, and Mother’s and Father’s days. As Mandisa indicates in her poem, I also wrote notes on special events like graduations or turning 16.

On a birthday, everyone would receive four cards. If it was my day, I would get something from my wife, Kristen( she usually bought hers), and homemade ones from my kids. I still have most of them. They are a treasure.

Enjoy this poem from a daughter to her daddy.

I took a bit of a break from the series this week. Are you enjoying this series? Let me know in the comments.

Is there anything that you would like me to give my thoughts on?

Thank you for reading and responding to the articles. I truly appreciate it.

  1. That’s a beautiful poem. I envy the relationship you have with your kids, who are very talented and smart. I know being a parent can be hard on the heart….

    1. Yes, being a parent can be difficult but it can be rewarding as well. You’ve been and are going through a lot but keep the faith, my friend. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
